Here is the latest revision of Email Archiver - now ready for all users! This is now a standalone application, thanks to the FileMaker Pro 5.0 Developer Tools :-) You do not need to have any version of FileMaker Pro in order to use this application.
In this version, I have added one more layout for those who import email messages from the mailing lists. These emails tend to be quite long, and may be difficult to read in the normal email message field

Email Archiver 1.8
Here is the latest revision of Email Archiver - for users of FileMaker Pro 5.0 only.
In this version, I have added one more layout for those who import email messages from the mailing lists. These emails tend to be quite long, and may be difficult to read in the normal email message field (at least I found it to be so). By clicking on the new button called "Mail List," you will go to a different layout that is larger and contains the same email message fie
Trash. If you wish to restore these to your InBox or OutBox, open the Trash mailbox, select the email, then transfer it back.
6) Once your email is in the Archives, you need to use the "Export" button in the Archives file, then the
Import
button in the Data View file, to update the Data View file with one record (name, email address) for each individual. This will run automatically when
you use the buttons - but it is very important to do this step if you wish to send Replies from within the Archives file, because the email address of the recipient will be taken from the Data View file.
That's about it! It is not that hard to do, though there is a learning curve. Another new feature is the ability to set Categories for your imported email all at once, rather than having to change the Category on each record one at a time. You can even set a New Category if you wish (

ppear in the Eudora window). Now go back to Email Archiver.
3) Drop down the Script Menu at the top of your screen. Choose the script that matches your needs (1 message, All, Inbox or Outbox). Click on it.
4) Messages will appear through which you can confirm your choices. Relax and wait!
5) Be aware that the impo

han having to change the Category on each record one at a time. You can even set a New Category if you wish (check the Script Menu).
There is also a quick-launch button in the Archives file that will open your browser and take you straight to the web address you have typed in or pasted into the address window there. This will make it easier when you get an email about some new site that you would like to see right away. You do need to have Internet Config 1.1 or above ready to go.
f you like the application and wish to register your copy, you have two ways to do so. You could send me an email requesting my mailing address, then send a check or money order. Or you can register online with a credit card at kagi.com. Here are the addresses:
tim@belimah.com (email)
http://order.kagi.com/?UVO (online order page)
The price is $25.00, and, of course, the online ordering will be faster. Please take note that IF you create more than the 50 RECORD limit, you will
Cancel.
Data will automatically fill these fields when you Import messages from your Email client. Don't forget that you can assign a category to each message.

e when you run the import so that all these emails can be quickly identified in a Search should you need to isolate them later. Eudora Pro users, for the dates to import correctly you MUST have your Mac's system clock set to "Show Century" (in Date & Time Control Panel), and you must set the Date Display preferences within Eudora to "Age-Sensitive."
To begin any import, please use the Script Menu at the top of the screen (under "Script") - here you will find the steps for importing your
email. A number of messages will appear that will help guide you through the process. There is a 50 Record limit before you need to register - this should be enough to test it out (if you import more than 50 records, the Email Archiver will ask you for a password the next time you launch it).
Please, please be aware that the mass import feature will move your selected messages to the Trash as it steps through the script (the folder "Deleted Items" in Outlook Express or the "Trash" in Eu
ld, but with a larger font size. This will make it easier to read through the mailing list emails.
Of course you still have the ability to utilize Email Archiver in combination with the dbMailer Pro plugin and database package. Go to http://www.datamailcorp.com to download a free demo version of dbMailer. With it, you can export email from Email Archiver and import that email into the dbMailer database, where you can send replies directly from within FileMaker Pro - there is no need fo
r an email client!
You can also remove and save your attachments from your Outlook Express email messages before you import those messages into the Email Archiver! This is a great way to clear out the old email and retain all the attachments that you need to keep.
Email Archiver 1.8 supports the mass import of email messages from any folder designated by you in Outlook Express 5.0, or mailbox in Eudora Pro. The name of the folder or mailbox will be automatically set as the Category nam
dora). You must remember this if you have your email client configured to empty the trash when you quit!! If you wish to restore these to your InBox or OutBox or other folder, open the Trash mailbox, select the email(s), then transfer them back.
Once your email is in the Archives, you should use the "Export" button in the Archives file, then the
Import
button in the Data View file, to update the Data View file with one record (name, email address) for each individual. This will run a
utomatically when you use the buttons - but it is very important to do this step if you wish to send Replies from within the Archives file, because the email address of the recipient will be taken from the Data View file.
That's about it! It is not that hard to do, though there is a learning curve. Take your time and play around with it, and soon it will all make sense....
Don't forget about the feature that will allow you to set Categories for your imported email all at once, rather t
not be able to open the application the next time you launch it. At least not until you register.
Please don't hesitate to email me with questions or suggestions - or compliments :-)
Thanks for your support!
All the Best,
Tim Woodruff
